Ceiling Fans - Westinghouse ceiling fans

Ceiling Fans – All About Your Westinghouse Ceiling Fan

Originally invented by James and John Hunter in 1886, ceiling fans are a great way to air condition your home with style as well as practicality, as they can be a far cheaper option than most conventional air conditioning units.

They are also  a great space saving option too, as they won’t impeded on the decor or furniture of a room and some will even have a light fitted into them.

Energy Saving Benefits

Ceiling fans could save you around 10% in heating costs in the winter and as much as 40% in air conditioning costs in the summer.

For optimum energy saving benefits, you should have the fan placed 10-12 inches below the ceiling and 7-9 feet above the floor, as this allows an even spread of cool air when you most need it.

Westinghouse fans come with the function of switching the rotation of the blades which has seasonal benefits. If the fan is rotated counter clockwise, it’ll ensure that cool air is pushed down. Adversely, if you make sure the fan is rotating clockwise in the winter, it’ll ensure that warm air is being circulated across the walls and insulation of the home – remember that warm air is lighter than cold air, therefore needs to distributed evenly.

How To Select The Best Size Fan For The Room

To maximise airflow, you’ll need to buy the appropriate fan size to suit the size of your room. The Westinghouse fans come in sizes from 24’’ to 56’’and a varying amount of blades. The diagram below shows the best sized fan for what size room.
