Q. Electric Showers Warm water only

  • Check that the temperature control is set to the correct number for the time of year (you will need a higher number in the winter than in the summer).
  • Check that the power selector (if available) is set to 'High'.
  • Check that the front cover has been fitted correctly with no distortion to the backplate.

Q. Electric Shower Water too hot

  • Check that the Stop Tap is fully open.
  • Check that the sprayplate of the sprayhead is clean. This can be tested by checking if an acceptable temperature is achieved by removing the sprayhead from the hose.
  • Check the hose for blockages and restrictions.
  • If the shower is delivering a flow of less than 5 litres/minute on a temperature setting of '1', then check for blockages in the inlet filter. Flow rate can be checked by using a bucket and stopwatch.
  • If the problem is occurring during a period of hot weather, then you may be experiencing high incoming ambient water temperatures and /or borderline water pressure. Try setting the power selector (if available) to 'Low' and adjusting the temperature control to suit.
  • The problem may be due to a build up of limescale in the heater can - phone Customer Services (024 76372222) for advice.

Q. Electric Showers Shower leaking

  • If water is leaking from a clear plastic tube at the bottom of the unit, then the Pressure Relief Device (PRD) has been activated. A replacement can be ordered from the Triton Spares department (02476 372222).
  • If the water is not leaking from the clear plastic tube, then isolate the electricity supply to the shower and call Triton Customer Services (02476 372222) for advice.

Q. Mixer Showers No water flowing

  • Check that the water supply has been turned on at the isolating valves.
  • Ensure that the check valves in the inlet filters are clear of blockages.
  • LP models only - check that the cold water tank is at least 1 metre above the sprayhead.

Q. All In One Power Showers No water flowing - pump not audible

  • Check that the electricity and water supplies are turned on to the unit.
  • Check that the on/off control connector inside the front cover has been fitted to the PCB in the unit (as per the fitting instructions).
  • Ensure that the inlet filters are clear of blockages.
  • Check that the air had been purged from the pipes up to the inlet elbows (as per the fitting instructions).
  • Check that the cold water tank is at least 3 inches above the top of the unit.

Q. All In One Power Showers Temperature fluctuating

  • Check that the unit is plumbed in to a dedicated supply of hot and cold water. If it is not, then turning taps, etc on elsewhere will cause fluctuations in temperature.
  • Check that the air had been purged from the pipes up to the inlet elbows (as per the fitting instructions).

Q. All In One Power Showers Unit Leaking

  • Check that the unit is plumbed to gravity fed hot and cold supplies - it can not be connected to mains water pressure (hot and/or cold).
  • If the unit is leaking from the inlet push-fit fittings then it is advisable to contact the installer of the unit and request that the problem be rectified.

Q. Power showers with seperate pump No water flowing from sprayhead

  • Check that the cold water tank is a minimum of 6 inches above the sprayhead.
  • Check that the electricity is switched on to the pump.
  • Ensure that the isolating valves are fully open.
  • Check that the air had been purged from the pump (as per the fitting instructions). This can be achieved by loosening the outlet connection on the pump until water is present.
  • Check that the filters are not blocked on the pump inlets.
  • Check that the return valves in the mixer inlets are not blocked.

Q. Power showers with seperate pump Water at sprayhead but pump does not start

  • Check that the cold water tank is a minimum of 6 inches above the sprayhead.
  • Check that the electricity is switched on to the pump.
  • Check that the pump filters are clean and clear of any blockage.

Q. Power showers with separate pump Dripping sprayhead when the unit is turned off

Check for debris in the cartridge or for a damaged 'O' ring seal. If the cartridge is damaged, it will need replacing.

Q. Electric Showers No water flowing

  • Is water turned on to the unit?
  • Is electricity turned on to the unit?
  • Check the inlet filter for blockages.
  • Check that the front cover has been fitted correctly with no distortion to the backplate.

Q. Electric Showers Shower will not turn off

  • Check that the front cover has been fitted correctly with no distortion to the backplate.
  • On units supplied with a commissioning link, check that it has been removed after installation (see fitting instructions for further advice)

Q. Electric Showers Water flowing cold/too cool

  • Is electricity turned on to the unit?
  • Check that the temperature control is set to the correct number for the time of year (you will need a higher number in the winter than in the summer).
  • Check that the power selector (if available) is set to 'High'.
  • On units fitted with a 'Low Pressure' indicator, check to see if it has been activated. If it has, then it is advisable to check for blockages in the inlet filter and/or have your mains water pressure checked.
  • On units not fitted with a 'Low Pressure' indicator, pressure could still be the problem, so it is advisable to have this checked prior to an engineer call-out.
  • Check that the front cover has been fitted correctly with no distortion to the backplate.

Q. Electric Showers Water hot then cold (cycling)

  • The flow rate of water through the unit could be too low, causing the thermal cut-out too activate (check as per 'Water too hot' guidelines).
  • There could be a possible sudden drop in water pressure, falling below the minimum required. This could be because water is being drawn off elsewhere in the house, possibly by a washing machine, or a toilet flushing, etc.

Q. Mixer Showers Water flowing too cold/cool

  • Check that the hot water temperature at basin taps is acceptable (this should be approximately 50-60 degrees centigrade). If it is not, then the hot water supply (e.g. hot water cylinder on an LP system or combination boiler on an HP system) needs adjusting.
  • HP models only - has the mixer shower been connected to mains water pressure (hot and cold) between 1 and 5 bar? If pressures are in excess of 5 bar, then it is advisable to arrange for the fitting of a pressure reducing valve.
  • Is the water temperature acceptable by pressing the 'maximum temperature stop' override button, and increasing it to a higher setting? If it is then reset the 'maximum temperature stop' as per the fitting instructions.
  • Check the hot water inlet for possible blockages.
  • LP models only - check that the mixer shower has been correctly plumbed to gravity system hot and cold supplies and not the mains supply.

Q. Mixer Showers Water too hot.

  • Check that the cold water supply has been fully turned on at the isolating valves.
  • Check the cold water inlet for possible blockages.

Q. Mixer Showers Water leaking from the mixer

  • HP models only - has the mixer shower been connected to mains pressure above 10 bar? If it has, then it is advisable to arrange for the fitting of a pressure reducing valve.
  • LP models only - has the mixer shower been connected to mains pressure? If it has, then it needs to be re-plumbed to the cold water tank.
  • Is water leaking from the inlet/outlet compression fittings? If it is, then it is advisable to contact the installer of the unit and request that the problem be rectified.
  • Has the mixer been taken apart? If it has and it is leaking around the cartridge and/or housing, then check that it has been replaced the right way around (i.e. 'hot' to 'hot').

Q. Mixer Showers Poor flow from sprayhead (when previously OK)

  • Check that the sprayplate of the sprayhead does not need de-scaling - if it does, then follow the procedure set out in the fitting instructions.
  • Ensure that the check valves in the inlet filters are clear of blockages.

Q. Mixer Showers Poor flow from sprayhead (from new)

  • Check that the sprayplate of the sprayhead does not need de-scaling - if it does, then follow the procedure set out in the fitting instructions.
  • Ensure that the check valves in the inlet filters are clear of blockages.
  • Check that the isolating valves are fully open.
  • HP models only - ensure that the mixer shower has been connected to mains water supplies with a minimum of 1 bar running pressure.

Q. All In One Power Showers No water flowing - pump audible

  • Check that the hot and cold water supplies are turned on to the unit.
  • Ensure that the inlet filters are clear of blockages.
  • Check that the air had been purged from the pipes up to the inlet elbows (as per the fitting instructions).
  • Check that the cold water tank is at least 3 inches above the top of the unit.

Q. All In One Power Showers Water flowing too cold/cool

  • Check that the hot water temperature at basin taps is acceptable (this should be approximately 50-60 degrees centigrade). If it is not, then the hot water supply (e.g. hot water cylinder system) needs adjusting.
  • Is the water temperature acceptable by pressing the 'maximum temperature stop' override button, and increasing it to a higher setting? If it is, then reset the 'maximum temperature stop' as per the fitting instructions.
  • Ensure that the inlet filters are clear of blockages.
  • Check that the air had been purged from the pipes up to the inlet elbows (as per the fitting instructions).

Q. All In One Power Showers Water too hot

  • Check that the cold water supply is turned on to the unit.
  • Ensure that the inlet filters are clear of blockages.
  • Check that the air had been purged from the pipes up to the inlet elbows (as per the fitting instructions).

Q. All In One Power Showers Unit noisy

  • Check that the unit is properly secured to the wall.
  • Check that the pipework to the unit is secured with brackets.

Q. Power showers with seperate pump Shower temperature is either hot or cold only

  • Ensure that the isolating valves are fully open.
  • Check that hot and cold flow is available at the pump outlet. If it is not, try loosening the outlet fittings on the pump until water is present.
  • Check that water is available at the mixer shower inlets - if it is not, then it is possible that there is an air-lock in the pipework between the pump and the mixer.
  • Check that the filters are not blocked on the pump inlets.

Q. Power showers with seperate pump Difficulty in selecting a comfortable temperature

  • Check that the stored water is approximately 60-65 degrees centigrade. If it is not, then the hot water supply (e.g. hot water cylinder system) needs adjusting.
  • Check that the flow rate on fully cold is equal to the flow rate on fully hot. This can be checked by using a bucket and stopwatch. If the flow rates are not equal, then check for any blockages and/or air-locks in the system.

Q. Power showers with separate pump Unit leaking

  • Check for any leaks in the inlet/outlet fittings. If there are leaks here, it is advised that you contact the installer and request that the problem be rectified.
  • If the leak is coming from around the cartridge and housing, then the 'O' ring is not sealing properly. If the cartridge has been removed from the housing, check that it has been replaced the right way around (i.e. 'Hot' to 'Hot').
  • Check to see if the cartridge is leaking. If it is, then it will need replacing.  Check to see if the pump is leaking. If it is, then it will need replacing.
