Fans & Ventilation - Airflow Quiet Air

The Airflow Quiet Air is a range of elegant, discreet axial fans that are supremely quiet and activate only when they are really needed, using exceptionally low energy

Q. Hi there, can you tell me how to make the qt100t work like a normal over run fan. ie, comes on with the light then overuns for a few minutes after the light is switched off. many thanks

Good Morning

Unfortunately this is not something i have the information on to advise on for you

Q. Q I see that the QT100T (Timer) Fan has lots of new features How is the fan configured straight out of the box

A The fan straight from the box and wired with a switched LIVE to terminal 1 & a PERMANENT Live to L  would work in the following manner

Two minute start delay IE will only switch on if the bathroom light/switch source is on for more than 2 minutes and then switch itself off on its overrun time setting after the light is switched off

15 Minute overrun timer setting

Room refresh set at 4 Hours

All of these features can be adjusted to suit different installations Please refer to instruction manual for the setting of these features via its “dip” switch

Q. Q Can I run my basic QT100 fan on 2 speeds through a switch

A Yes you can purchase a 2 speed switch (Part No 71523101) which would enable this fan to run on two speeds

Q. Q I have had a fan fitted in my ceiling and water is dripping from the unit how can this be stopped

A This is an installation problem we come across many times where the fan has been installed within a bathroom taking hot air up into a cold loft space condensation forms   and returns back down the pipe into the unit. It is always good practice to fit a moisture trap within the outlet thus completely eradicating this problem. These can be purchased separately via our website

Q. Q Can I fit the QT Range of fans in my window

A No in these days of energy saving it is not good practice to be cutting holes in glass especially in the case of double glazed windows which are sealed units

Q. Q I have a stand alone PIR timer sensor can I fit the basic fan in conjunction with this

A yes but the live feed in to the fan would need to be connected to terminal No 2

Q. Q My outlet is a long way from the where I would like to install my fan

A  No problem with the Quietair range of fans as the performance of this fan does not drop due to its unique impeller design which is designed to work in combination with its flow straighter giving a giving a full performance of up to 12 metres of ducting with a maximum of eleven 90 degree bends

Q. Q Does the refresh option still operate even though I have the delay timer switched off

A Yes it does still refresh every 4/8/12 or 24 hours (Factory set at 4 hours) which can be adjusted via the dip switch (Please refer to manual for setting guide)

Q. Q My standard timer model QT100T fan came on all by itself during the day and I am sure it is not a humidity model fan is this correct

A Yes The QT100 Timer model has a unique feature called refresh which will refresh the room of stale air. This unique feature can be set up refresh every 4/8/12 or 24 Hours or if needed this can be switched off by setting the dip switch accordingly please refer to manual for all settings available

Q. Q Can the QT range of fans be ceiling mounted

A Yes all of the QT Fan range can be ceiling mounted with another unique feature being that it does not matter what way around the fan is fitted with regards to cable entry as the front cover will fit in any of the four positions so that the front logo is as it should be when walking into a room

Q. Q My QT Humidity fan keeps coming on after I have turned the humidity down to its lowest setting via the dip switch

A The humidity setting needs to be turned up to stop the fan coming on to a higher RH% setting to stop the fan switching at low humidity

Q. Q The front cover has become quite dusty/dirty and I was wondering the best way to clean this

A The front cover can be removed (See instructions on how to remove this) and washed in mild washing up liquid but with great care in making sure that is  fully dry before refitting to the fan

Q. Q How quiet is the fan?

A The fan is one of the most quiet fans on the market with a dB(A) rating of 25 which was measured @ 3 metres

Q. Q The fan says it is 2 speed how to I change it to run on the second speed

A You would need to change the jumper setting within the fan to enable the second speed operation. Please refer to instruction manual for the setting of this jumper

Q. Q How do I change the time setting on the fan

A Located within the fan is a “Dip Switch” and depending on the configuration of  the settings on this gives all different options IE 6/12/18 or 24 Minutes overrun please refer to instruction manual for configuration of this switch depending on the setting

Q. Q The timer overrun appears to be longer on my PIR range than 15 Minutes as I have been in the bathroom for more than 15 minutes and it is still running

A The timer operation of this fan will operate once no more movement is registered

Q. Q I have a dimmer switch can these range of fans be incorporated within this lighting circuit

A No Dimmer switches have a voltage regulator that transmits a digital signal which most mains voltage PCBs components also have and these 2 signals would normally interfere with each other

Q. Q The electrician has fitted the fan but it does not start when I pull my bathroom light like my old fan used too but it comes on after a few minutes

A The QT100T Fan has a delayed start so to save energy if the fan is not required for example during the night with the need to switch on the light. Providing the light is switched off within the 2 minute delay the fan will not start If the light is left on more than the 2 minute delay then the fan will start & switch itself off on its pre set time after the light is switched off. This feature can be switched off  by setting the dip switch accordingly please refer to the instruction manual for all settings available

Q. A Is a coloured front cover available for the QT range of fans

Q Not at this present moment in time but this is something that we will be pursuing in the near future

Q. Q Where is the sensor situated on the fan for the humidity and will this break any rules towards the IP rating

A  Within the fan all electronics are fully isolated which includes the humidity sensor and with IP45 protection, QuietAir is safe for installation in wet zones in bathrooms, en-suites and shower rooms when protected by an RCD in accordance with the latest IEE wiring regulations.

Q. Q Where does the Earth wire go

A The QT 100 range of fans do not require a earth due to its double insulated motor

Q. Q The QT range of fans say low energy but how much do I expect to pay to run this fan especially as it comes on by itself during the day

A The QT fan range only runs at 5 watts@ 20.8 l/sec so for example on a standard domestic tariff of 0.19 kw/hr and being used for 2 hours a day the cost of running this fan would be £0.057p per month amounting to £0.68 per year making one of the most cost effective fans on the market

Q. Q I would like to know if you do a low voltage unit as I want to fit this fan in my shower enclosure

A The QT range of fans are IP45 Rated with the IP meaning “Ingress Protection” and with a rating of 45 This is protected against water jets from any direction. So this fan can be safely fitted within a shower enclosure providing proper wiring guidelines are adhered to by a qualified electrician & a RCD Fitted as laid down by the latest IEE wiring regulations

Q. Q Can I adjust the overrun timer setting on my PIR fan

A No the timer has no adjustments and is set to 15 minutes as per the regulations

Q. Q My fan stopped working but now all of a sudden it has started working again is it the wiring or the fan that has gone wrong

A No The QT range of fans are fitted with a thermal overload cut out which is an added safety feature which is resettable once the unit has cooled down.

The reason that this cut out has come into operation could be for a number of reason with the most common one being that the fan has become very clogged up with dirt and dust or that the impeller has become unbalanced through a build up of dirt/dust

Q. Q My QT100T fan is wired with just Live & Neutral and does not work what is wrong

A The QT100T Fan is a timer module and would require BOTH a permanent Live to the L Terminal and a Switched Live to the No 1 Terminal to enable all the functions

The fan can be wired  with a permanent LIVE but this would need to be connected to No 2 Terminal and the fan will work as a straight on/off operation via a standard switch
