Apollo Cistern Combination Water Heater

This cistern combination water heater offers enough storage capacity to serve a number of sinks yet is very simple and reliable in design. Connected directly to the mains, the Apollo water heater features copper hot and cold water tanks and is fitted with an integral sacrificial anode for long life in agressive water conditions.

The Apollo is ideal for commercial and industrial premises for washing up, hand washing and similar applications on a regular basis. Unlike mains pressure units, no special controls are needed.

Features
rugged and reliable
3.0kW element
strong white steel casing
compatible with normal taps and multiple outlets
hot draw off 22mm compression
drain 1/2" female boss
immersion heater 2 1/4" boss
25L, 50L, 75L, 100L sizes

Flow rates are height determined and this unit needs to be wall mounted at the highest level. A minimum distance of 1 metre is needed between the bottom of the Apollo water heater and the outlet to be served. If this is difficult to achieve then either the Powerflow or Everlast mains pressure units should be considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is the water heater vented or unvented?.Vented
  2. What happens if there is a pressure build up inside the water heater? Pressure cannot build up inside the water heater because steam/water backs up into cold header tank, which is open to the atmosphere.
  3. Can you use regular taps with this water heater? Yes.
  4. How many sinks can the water heater serve? About 1 sink for every 7-8 litres roughly.
  5. What are the capacities in litres?  25,50,75 and 100L.
  6. Where would the water heater normally be mounted? The Apollo water heater needs to be wall mounted, as high as possible to give good water pressure. Fitting must be vertical.
  7. Can you fit the water heater on the floor? Not really - the wall brackets are not suitable and the plumbing and electrical connections are underneath the water heater. Also, the water pressure depends on the height drop from the top of the cold feeder tank to the taps, so this is only an option if the sinks are at a lower level.
  8. How do you empty the water for service? There is a drain tap with a hosepipe connection at the bottom of the water heater.
  9. Does it matter how high up the water heater is mounted? Yes because water pressure depends on height drop. You need a minimum of a metre between the top of the water heater and the tap. The higher the water heater is mounted the better.
  10. What is the tank made from? The case? The tank is copper and the case is made from steel.
  11. How do you adjust the temperature? You have to remove the metal cover under the water heater first, but it is just a standard rod thermostat like a domestic immersion heater.
  12. Can you tell if the element is on? No.
  13. How big is the cold feeder tank? 8L for the 25L and 25L for the 50,75 and 100L units.
  14. How big is the cold water mains connection? The hot outlet? 15mm and 22mm respectively.
  15. Where are the plumbing connections on the water heater? The cold inlet and the overflow can be fitted either on the left or the right. The outlet and the electrical connections are underneath the water heater and can’t be varied.
  16. Where is the element? The element is underneath the water heater. Connections are shielded by a metal plate.
  17. Is the element standard, or special if we needed a replacement? The water heater uses a standard 2 ¼” immersion heater element.
  18. How long would it take to heat up a unit from cold (approx.)? The general rule on these water heaters is 1minute per litre so the 25litre unit would take approximately 25 minutes.
  19. What is the temperature range? 25-65 degrees Celsius.
