This kit comes complete with a wirefree external sounder, it just needs plugging in to power and thats it, no messing around running cables.

 

The GSM module is fitted with a standard Sim Card to become an embedded mobile phone in the Infinite panel. Control of infinite, home automation devices and two way sound communication can then be achieved from virtually anywhere in the world.   The Infinite can be programmed to contact the users mobile phone in an emergency or following an alarm event. The User will receive an SMS text message to inform the event has happened, the user can then talk back directly to the panel or arrange assistance as required.

Whilst Infinites primary role is that of a high security intruder alarm, its full capabilities can offer the end user many functions that at last combine protecting the property with helpful features that will be used every day. Wireless smoke detectors and X10 modules to control electrical appliances can be easily fitted to the system.  

Where other wireless burglar alarms claim to be wirefree, they normally still have cables to run between the control panel and the external sounder, and also any extra remote keypads.   The hardest cable to run is normally the one between the control panel and the external sounder  because it involves running a cable between different levels of a property. The Infiniti has none of these problems.  The only cables to install in the whole system are providing power so that the control panel and the external sounder can be plugged in to a local power socket.

This is a very sophisticated burglar alarm system that would normally retail for many £100s of pounds.

Q&A

1.  I know it is wireless but will I be able to fit it?  Provided that you can provide a 13a socket for the control panel (or better still wire it in using a unswitched connection unit and the external sounder there is no other wiring to do.  The programming of the control panel is menu driven using simple yes and no answers.

2.  Can I use it with my pets in the house?  Yes you have three choices.  If your pet is under 50lbs you can fit these INF-PET animal immune detectors.  If it is over 50lbs you can connect magnetic contacts around your home to protect the perimeter while the pet is free to use the inside. If there is a large window with lots of openings standard magnetic contacts can be used wired in to a Infinite Universal Transmitter which can have a dramatic reduction in cost.

3.   Is the panel big enough for my needs?  The control panel has 32 zones, big enough to have one zone dedicated to each wireless device.  If there are any other detection devices that you would like to fit then the panel also has a traditional hard wired zone for this purpose.

4. What is the range of the signal between the control panel and the wireless devices and also will the alarm be set off by ambulances and taxis passing my house?  Wireless systems have come on a long way since they were first launched.  The Infinite uses 868Mhz FM to create a strong clear signal for up to 200m in free air, or approximately 90m through walls depending on conditions.  The control panel has a signal strength indicator allowing easy determination of these factors.  The FM transmitters within the system have high security data encryption making use of a rolling code facility which makes the chances of any other transmitters accidently using the frequency highly unlikely, in the ratio of 1,000 000s : 1. 

5. How long do the batteries last in the detectors?  The batteries supplied in the detectors are 3.6v  lithium batteries.  They will last for 4 years of continuous use.  At the end of that period we will be able to supply replacements.

  Great piece of kit. Easy to install but a little patience needed with the programming. Give the battery pack a chance to charge before syncing the external siren.

  I have just installed the alarm and was initially concerned about the GSM signal strength but have found it works well with a signal strength of 3. The follow me feature send SMS messages to my mobile for all events and I can arm and disarm the alarm using SMS messages if needed. Initially I kept receiving the message Media Loss PSTN/GSM as no telephone line was connected, this was fixed using the Find Modules option P23 of Installation guide.Suggest you put in some ear plugs while you are undertaking the installation work. It was not obvious where J12 was to install the cable clip for the mains cable P3 Installation guide but the ESP help desk told me where it was on the PCB.

  If you are willing to pay a premium for a good alarm system this is the one to get. Works like a charm though I've only had it installed a few weeks have had no problems. The Alarm is real easy to setup and install and the manual walks you through it with easy. The key fob is a great feature as it makes setting the alarm so simple. Before purchasing the system I was worried about attaching the magnetic sensor to PVC doors but I used No more nails and its well and truely stuck on! Also the strength of the wireless signal is so good I'm about to order another contact for my shead at the back of the garden. The alarm has some nice features, like vocal arming when the system tells you when it is arming and disarmed. one dislike about this is it is a bit to loud which isn't great when kids are in bed. Though the internal alarm on its own would wake you pretty quick. The 3 arming zones are very good and gives you different options for arming when at home. One feature the system lacks is a light on the alarm to show it has been armed this would be a good visual deterent. Luckly I haven't had any GSM issues and my panel is under the stairs though it only stays at 6

  The alarm itself is a good product and I am thinking by another buth this time without the GSM Module. Unless you can find a suitable location, where the GSM signal is strong, the module fails to pick up a suitable signal (6 and above). I have emailed a few stockist about the INFINITE PRIME EXTERNAL GSM ANTENNA (Product Code INF-GSMANT) but yet to receive a response . I think the manufacturer should include the antenna in the overall bundle. Thus, I have rated the product 3 stars as the built in antenna only picks up a signal strength of 2-3(in the middle of one UK's major cities). A rating of 2-3 is low, it needs to be 6 and above otherwise the alarm will not set and you have to disconnect the GSM module temporarily until an antenna is install . I am hoping the antenna will resolve the GSM issue. ALERT RESPONSE; We will pass on your observations to the manufacturer and source stock of the Antenna ASAP.
