Burglar Alarm Bellbox Flashing LED Module

PCB starts two flashing red LEDís alternately flashing when 12v is applied. This is ideal for use in a burglar†alarm decoy box sited on a property with an alarm system where a 12v supply can be taken from a live bellbox. If there is no 12v supply present then a battery powered LED (LEDBAT) is the only alternative.

Adds that bit of authenticity to dummy unit

  • ****Flashing led module-12 volt

    By M.Vernon on 16th Jan 2014

Just what I need to make the dummy box look genuine. Designed specifically to fit the dummy box, with easy self adhesive pads. Supply coming from a 12 volt transformer in the loft, so no need for battery replacements, and certainly no dependency on unreliable solar units.

  • ****Very satisfied

By Jeffrey Smith on 23rd Nov 2013

I have had a new alarm fitted with flashing red lights on the 'active' box but there was also a dummy box with no lights included that I said I would fit myself. I wanted to have both boxes flashing; otherwise there was no point fitting the dummy (other than advertising the firm that fitted the alarm system) because it would clearly have been a dummy.

First some bits of information. My module measures approx 120mm x 28mm. There are 2 screw fitting holes which you can see in the picture - each hole about 9mm from either end. Also supplied were two plastic fitting gadgets with sticky/self adhesive bases to help with fixing but these may or may not be useful. I screwed my module to a piece of left over UPVC fascia board which happened to be lying around and which I cut to size and which would fit my dummy alarm box on a cut out shelf above the bottom blue lens. The LEDS supplied were red LEDS and can be bent to suit. They looked clear but shone red.

I had an old 12volt adaptor/transformer so I cut off the jack plug and ran a multimeter over the wires to establish positive and negative. My positive was a black and white striped wire; the completely black one being negative but I don't know whether this is an industry standard. I ran a wire in the loft from a junction box (on the lighting circuit) to the interior 'end wall' of the house and fitted a socket close to a hole I had drilled from the outside to suit the alarm box. I fed the wires from the transformer (from the inside of the loft to the outside) through the hole, fitted the module to the dummy box, put a tiny piece of lagging foam into the outside end of the drill hole in case bees or wasps found a way into the loft, plugged in the transformer to the created socket and hey presto everything was fine. Very pleased with the module; it looks just the ticket and matches the active box very well.

Took me a while to trace a supplier for a replacment circuit board and imagine my surprise when it arrived and turned out to be a genuine original part so there was no doubt about compatabilty. Excellent service and good value.

By Paul on 14th Jul 2013

Although I have a monitored alarm system, there were no flashing LEDs in the main outside box. So far this has proved to be an excellent product with the LEDs being clearly visible even in bright sunlight. Alert Electrical proved to be a very easy and efficient company to deal with. I purchased separately a 12v supply from my local electrical store for £2 and the whole system was quickly and easily installed.

  • ****Burglar alarm flashing led module

By Guy on 08th Apr 2013

This is an excellent piece of kit, very simple to wire and easy to fit inside the box. As long as the 12v supply is there then the red LEDs will flash. In this day and age, anything that acts as an extra deterrent must be a winner. Just one small point that may be of interest; the factory fitted LEDs inside my 1E Texecom master bell box flash green and the LEDs on this module flash red - so your front and back boxes might not match!

  • ****Burglar alarm bell box flashing led module 12v

By Stephen on 08th Apr 2013

Fitted to existing alarm box on system that I fitted myself a few years ago, but as neighbours have all had professional  fitted alarm systems mine was standing out as no cycling lights, and as Street lights go out just after mid night made my box look just like a dummy.

Easy to fit to box in about 15 mins, I used the power supply from control box which runs Movement Detectors to power , red leds bright behind blue lens and can be seen from a good distant night and day.

Cycling speed of leds the same as professional fitted alarms so good deterrent as does not make box stand out from surrounding houses.

I am thinking of buying more units to fit to dummy boxes and these are a very good unit at a good price

What a find. I had old solar powered decoy bellbox, but it failed. (Or the sun failed..?) This unit fitted in a treat. No soldering.  I just found an old 12v mains adaptor ( from even older failed lava lamp!) and hooked it up. Or Maplin can sell you one.  On my adaptor, I guessed that positive was the wire with the white stripe, but suggest you dont guess as you might damage unit.

Unit has sells adhesive mounting pads, which might be ok, but I decided to silicone it in as we'll.  now have it on a timer switch and looks great. LEDs are nice and bright. Looking to purchase another for my garage.

By Dave Box on 08th Apr 2013

I have looked everywhere for this type of item and I have finally found it. A great item, I purchased an external dummy alarm box from Ebay and mounted it on my garage. Then fitted the flasher unit into the dummy Box and powered it by connecting some Two core speaker wire from the Flasher units power terminal to a 3-12 volt universal Mains adaptor , again from ebay. Plugged the adaptor into a timer switch for the flasher unit to come on/off at my selected time, and job done for a total of £22 An absolutely great item with a very clear flashing mode that that has been flashing for the past 3 years at my selected times and will deter the most determined of intruders. I have since fited at least another six of these to my Freinds & Neighbours Garages/Sheds and all are running perfectly. A great Item
