FAQ

1. So, what should I do to fit this product?

As long as you have a 13 amp socket, no more wiring should be required. We supply a spur to power the control panel, this can be fitted next to the 13a socket by a suitably qualified person. The programming is carried out by menu, using easy to understand "yes or no" answers.

2. I have pets - should I use this product?

For pets that weigh 50lbs or less, you can fit INF-PET detectors, which your pet will not set off.
For pets that weigh over 50lbs, connect magnetic contacts in order to protect your perimeter. In the mean-time, your pet can live inside.
If you have a big window, and many openings, try fitting magnetic contacts, wiring them to an Infinite Universal Transmitter. This could save money.

3. Is the control panel the right size for me?

This control panel has 32 zones wireless and 1 hardwired zone, and is of a large enough size that it is able to have one zone per wireless device. The panel has a hard-wired traditional zone, which can be used to fit additional detection accessories.

4. How big is the range of the signal between the control panel and wireless devices? Will police cars and ambulances set off the alarm with their transmitters?

Wireless alarm systems are much better now, compared with when they were launched.  This Infinite burglar alarm is able to use 868Mhz FM in order to make clear, strong signals that have up to a two hundred metre range in free air, or around 90m with walls in the way. This is of course dependent on any other existing conditions.  The signal strength indicator enables you to find out quickly and simply what these factors might be.  The transmitters use high security data encryption with rolling code capabilities. These make the odds of other transmitters accidentally using the same frequency very low, a million-to-one shot.

5. Will the batteries last long?

The batteries we provide should last a total of around four years, if you subject them to continuous use. After they have worn out, we can provide you with replacements.

I've been playing around with this system and managed to get all the PIRs, the door sensor and the keypad setup fine. Managed walk tests etc So system is easy to setup from that perspective, but I've struggled with the remote access, which was the main reason for choosing this make/model. I too suffered from the low GSM signal (initially had strength 6, but dropped to 4 and can't get it back to 6) I did manage to control via Text until signal drop, so remote ok, hooked up phone line but setting up the various remote options isn't that clear in the manual, so not for the faint hearted. Will look to find a GSM arial (suggested in the manual as a way to address low GSM, but no where shows how to connect such an arial, nor can I see a 'plug' on the main board to connect one). Also support forums a bit sparse on this alarm, so not much info out there, plus mainly on the Prime, not the commpact. Would I recommend it? It's a nicely put together system, has good features, but the advanced features like remote need more info in the manual, plus there's not much info out on the web, so if like me, your not a professional it may take some time to fully set it up

I've installed the system a couple weeks ago and it's been working fine ever since. the only thing it's set up for is GSM Text, that comes through every time it goes off. it' fairly easy to install and takes more time to program. All the components are easy to link to controll panel. The only thing that lets it down is if you've got a low GSM/GPRS signal in the house a "MEDIA LOSS GPRS MODULE error will alway display on screen, and there's no way to take it off. The alarm works fine even with the message on. There's an option for a telephone line in case you don't get a signal at all. In any case just make sure you check the location before installing. A fair product overall.
