I am a competent DIY person, but not an electrician,so when the 5 wire box arrived to replace my 6 wire system, I was flummoxed. The maker's helpline was hard to understand, but I found a wiring schematic on the internet.
I have now fitted the product, and would like to say that I find it well made, very good value, and a good update. But shortly after fitting, the strobe started self activating and I am at a total loss to know why. The LEDs on the bellbox are flashing correctly, and of course I have checked my wiring. The strobe wire is now disconnected at the Strobe -ve terminal on my Omnicron 7000 processor, and without expert diagnosis, have to conclude that there is a compatibility problem.
So, this is very disappointing, but at least I have a good value deterrent which looks good and the sounder works properly. Excellent service from Alert Electrical, but system compatibility could be better emphasized in the product description, at least to help DIY people like me.
ALERT REPLY: Hi John, thank you for your review. The control panel you have is a very old A1 panel without a non volatile memory. I would suggest that your next upgrade might be a Texecom V8C or VR8 control panel which will avoid any compatibility issues. I hope that helps.

Alert is a very good at it's job, very fast and prompt service as usual. As an electrician who also installs alarms I either use ADE or Texecom products. But which ever control panel I use, I alway install Texecom bellboxes as the ADE Reson8 bellbox is rubbish. I fitted 2 Reson8 bellboxes for a customer and had to replace them both for Texecom. Reason you cannot see the LED's flashing in the Reson8 bellbox - even at nighttime.
