This product requires a 12v transformer, see below. 

We recommend fitting a CT101C when laying the cables for your downlights.  It allows the downlights to be easily plugged in, and once installed it allows easy isolation of transformers in order to carry out 1000v Megger tests of the installation.

  These are very straight-forward drop-in replacements for old eyeball spots, and a lot cheaper than repairing a ceiling! They're not suitable for fire hoods, but since they're intended for refits to existing installations, that probably isn't going to be an issue in most cases. Like in the ads, they just do what they say on the box...
